Kim Go-eun returns to K-dramas in Netflix’s Two Women
NetflixIt’s been some time since fans have seen actor Kim Go-eun in a K-drama, and they don’t have to wait long as she’s to star in a new Netflix K-drama titled Two Women.
Kim Go-eun is an actor known for starring in some of K-dramas’ most renowned storylines. Her claim to fame was the fantasy romance, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, better known as Globlin. When it comes to the most recognized second-lead romance K-dramas, Kim played the female lead in Cheese in the Trap.
From Tune in to Love, The King: Eternal Monarch, and Yumi’s Cells, she’s had a dynamite career. The last K-drama she starred in was a grand success for Netflix with Little Women in 2022. While taking a hiatus from the small screen, Kim will return to fans in Two Women.
The now-greenlighted Netflix K-drama will be an emotional rollercoaster about life and its challenges. Here’s everything we know.
What is Two Women K-drama about?
Two lifelong friends have a love-hate relationship that chronicles childhood into adulthood. They reunite when one of them is battling cancer and evaluate their lives and their impact on each other.
Kim Go-eun was announced by Netflix to star in Two Women alongside actors Park Ji-hyun and Kim Gun-woo. Kim Gun-woo was recently known for his villain role in Netflix’s The Glory, with Park Ji-hyun currently starring in Flex X Cop.
According to Netflix, “Ryu Eun-jung (Kim Go-eun), a charming and honest woman, forms a close bond with Cheon Sang-yeon (Park Ji-hyun), who becomes her best friend and rival. The series explores the intricacies of their complex friendship as they navigate the challenges of life, feeling both care and envy for each other.”
Their friendship spans from their childhood, their 20s, 30s, and into their early 40s. At 42 years old, the two characters reunite and face a dire dilemma. Sang-yeon has cancer. In the face of it, they look back at their lives together, their challenges, complexities, and how they have changed each other’s lives. Two Women will also explore their paths to becoming a successful drama writer and a director.
Actor Kim will star as Kim Sang-hak an old college friend of the two characters who also played a key role in their lives. “His character, a passionate photographer, plays a crucial part in the complex relationship between Eun-jung and Sang-yeon,” explained Netflix.
For now, the K-drama is still in its early stages with the cast having received their scripts. Two Women is scheduled to release in 2024 with no set release date yet.
