DreamworksIn the lead-up to Kung Fu Panda 4, director Stephanie Ma Stine teased that there is still more to come of Po and the beloved franchise.
2024 is shaping up to be a big year for the world of animated films. With Kung Fu Panda 4 set to release at the end of March 2024 as well as the likes of Moana 2, Inside Out 2, and more planned for the year, fans of the animated world will be spoiled for content.
However, anticipation for Kung Fu Panda 4 has built up to major heights. After all, the third film was released back in 2016, marking almost a decade since fans have been able to see their favorite Kung Fu fighting panda, Po on the big screen.
Excitement only grew for Kung Fu Panda 4 after it was revealed that all previous villains would be returning for the new film. With Po having to face off against a new enemy but also previous ones… and maybe even himself.
In light of this, fans assumed that this new film would mark the end of Po’s journey. In a new interview with Variety, however, co-director Stephanie Ma Stine teased that there is more to be made and that Po’s story is not over after the new Kung Fu Panda.
The director stated, “This is definitely not the end of Po’s story. Please look forward to more.”
In the same interview, Ma Stine also explained why she believes Po is such a beloved character and why there is still more of his story to tell.
“Every obstacle that he faces, he faces with an overwhelming positivity. Even if he gets knocked down on his feet, he’ll get right up again. And he dusts himself off and he’s able to face the world with positivity and humor.”
Kung Fu Panda 4 is set to release in theaters on March 28, 2024.
