Michael Keaton reveals big details about Beetlejuice 2’s first cut
Warner Bros.Beetlejuice 2 star Michael Keaton gave fans an exciting update about the highly anticipated upcoming sequel.
After almost four decades since the original premiered, the cult classic film Beetlejuice is getting a modernized sequel.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is bringing back original cast members such as Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder, will catch up with the Deetz family decades after the first film’s chaotic ending and introduce a new generation to the tricky ghoul.
Though not many details have been revealed about the sequel, Michael Keaton, aka Beetlejucie himself, did give fans an exciting update thanks to his recent viewing of a cut of the movie.
Keaton gives fans a glimpse at the “beautiful” Beetlejuice 2
While appearing on an episode of SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Keaton gave fans an update on the long awaited sequel film and didn’t hold back from giving his honest thoughts on the cut of the film that he viewed.
“It’s just so fun and I’ve seen it now,” Keaton said, “I’m going to see it again after a couple of little tweaks in the editing room, and I confidently say this thing is great.”
“[Beetlejuice 2] is beautiful, physically. The other one was so fun and exciting visually, it’s all that but really beautiful and interestingly emotional here and there. I wasn’t ready for that. It’s great.”
Keaton went on to add that, on top of the stunning visuals, the movie has an equal amount of “surprisingly emotional” moments sprinkled throughout it.
The actor’s gushing feelings towards the movie’s physical attributes could stem from the fact that he was very vocal with director Tim Burton on how the movie should feel “handmade.”
“What made it fun was watching somebody in the corner actually holding something up for you, to watch everybody in the shrunken head room and say, ‘Those are people under there, operating these things, trying to get it right,” Keaton told People Magazine, “It’s the most exciting thing when you get to do that again after years of standing in front of a giant screen, pretending somebody’s across the way from you.”
