Netflix has sparked controversy after posting a steamy clip from its new series SuperSex, inspired by the life of infamous adult star Rocco Siffredi, with some arguing the “sickening” scene violates Instagram’s community guidelines.

Following on from the likes of Griselda and Maestro, SuperSex is Netflix’s latest biographical drama – however, its subject matter couldn’t be more different.

But despite being based on one of the world’s most famous porn stars, the series is so much more than sex (although there’s a lot of that too), ruminating on life, love, and family.

Though SuperSex has been praised by critics, earning 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, some viewers can’t see past the explicit nature of the show. Especially after Netflix shared a steamy scene on Instagram

Netflix sparks outrage with “sickening” SuperSex Instagram post

Taking to Instagram yesterday morning (March 7), Netflix shared a SuperSex scene in which Alessandro Borghi’s Rocco Siffredi can be seen kissing a group of women, with one of them straddling and grinding him.

The streamer simply captioned the post, “Morning,” before adding, “SuperSex is now playing.” Despite the tongue-in-cheek comment, it hasn’t gone down too well with the online community, with one writing: “This is absolutely sickening man.”

“Meanwhile, I get shadowbanned for selling lingerie… I’ll never understand this app I swear,” said another, while a third added, “Instagram… exactly what are your sensor rules again?”

And a fourth chimed in: “Do better IG; not everyone wants to see this, it needs to be subject to the same rules as genocide, posting with a warning and option to see anyway.”

Others turned their attention to Netflix, including this person who said, “Now we have porn on Netflix as well? Canceling account while we speak, my kids can’t see this.” Another wrote, “So many good shows have been canceled for you to make this.”

A third added, “So you’re canceling and removing good shows for porn? @netflix do better and bring back Shadow and Bone, the Six of Crows spin-off, Lockwood and Co, and many more canceled shows the people really do miss. Listen to your followers for once, please.”

If you’re interested in what it’s all about, SuperSex is streaming on Netflix now. You can also dive into all the new movies and all the new TV shows hitting streaming this month if you need something fresh to watch.
