Nicolas Cage might be returning as Spider-Man Noir in best possible way
Sony PicturesSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse brought fans plenty of Webslinger variants, but Nicolas Cage’s brooding Spider-Man Noir stole the show.
Nicolas Cage was always the perfect choice to play the pulpy, brooding version of Spider-Man. His intense voice and dramatic ways were ideal for bringing the black-and-white antihero to life, and fans have been gunning to see him again ever since.
Luckily, the end of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse brought back Noir in a brief moment, with Spider-Gwen recruiting the original team of Spider-Men variants (like Peni Parker and Spider-Ham) to rescue Miles.
Of course, all this means that we’re set to see Noir return in animated form in Beyond the Spider-Verse. But recent rumors suggest that Cage is returning to the character in another, bigger way.
Nicolas Cage might be returning as Spider-Man Noir in major way
The Ankler has reported that Nicolas Cage is currently in talks to play Noir again in the upcoming live-action Spider-Man Noir series.
The show, which will be set in 1930s New York City, will follow Noir as a grizzled, older detective. It was also said that the series would take place within its own universe, and wouldn’t center around Peter Parker.
However, if Cage is circling the role, then it would suggest Parker is playing a larger role than initially thought. After laying such beloved groundwork for the character in Into the Spider-Verse, it wouldn’t be all that surprising for Cage to return. Spidey fans adored his first run, and it seems like they’re gunning to get him back.
“If Sony can land Cage, this might just revive them,” wrote one X user about the possibility.
“Now we’re cooking,” said another.
“On God! Please make this happen! PLEASE!!!” said a third.
As it stands, this is all still unconfirmed by Sony and Amazon. However, it’s clear that casting leaks have been a very powerful force in the superhero world lately, and Cage has also been vocal about wanting to make a move onto the small screen.
If they can pull Cage back in, then it might just be the thing to win fans back into the Spider-Verse following some recent…bumps in the road.
