Percy Jackson may have ended its first season with a bang, but Season 2’s story is just as action-packed, but comes with a catch.

After weeks of Olympian god shenanigans, Percy Jackson and the Olympians have closed the book on its first season.

Based on the novels by Rick Riordan, the Disney+ series follows tween Percy Jackson as he discovers his demigod status and goes a live-altering mission with his friends.

After eight episodes, Season 1 of the show has come to an end and, while many fans are excited for what Season 2 will bring, there’s a catch when it comes to this series’ sophomore

Percy Jackson Season gets Season 2 update with a catch

As the Percy Jackson novel franchise has six books in its catalog (so far), it’s not surprising that the show’s writers’ room already has a plan for Season 2.

“There is an awareness on everyone’s part that the demand for the show seems to suggest we should probably not stop making it,” co-showrunner Jon Steinberg told Variety.

On February 7, Variety announced that Percy Jackson is going to be getting a Season 2, but as far as a release date for the hyped fans, there has been no comment on when the series will air, let alone film.

For instance, it took nearly three years from the time of filming Season 1 for it to actually premiere on the streaming service, so with those odds, fans could possibly be waiting until 2027 for the second season.

The ending of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 left a lot of room for a follow-up season as Percy technically failed his quest to retrieve Zeus’ lightning bolt, but still traveled to Mount Olympus anyways.

Also, there was the big revelation that Luke, son of Hermes and Percy’s first new friend at Camp Halfblood, was behind the theft of both Hades’ helm and Zeus’ bolt.

Though Luke offers Percy the chance to join him and titan lord Kronos in their effort to overthrow all of the gods, Percy ends up refuting his offer, still knowing that the two will meet again for another battle in a later season.
