“Fantastic” show with 97% Rotten Tomatoes score climbs Netflix chart
SyfyOne of the most critically acclaimed TV shows of the 2020s so far has just been added to Netflix, and viewers say it’s “fantastic.”
The landscape of the streaming wars is starting to shift. At the start of the decade, platforms kept sprouting out of every studio, vying for your direct debit – and ultimately, making the whole thing a bit unsustainable for audiences and companies alike.
Netflix’s dominance is unquestionable, estimated to have around 260 million subscribers worldwide as of February this year. It’s started to pick up licenses for third-party titles; for example, HBO allowed it to stream Band of Brothers and Six Feet Under in 2023.
Now, it’s added a popular but under-appreciated series to its library – and it’s quickly made its way onto the top 10 chart.

The comedy series began on Syfy in 2021, following Alan Tudyk’s “Harry Vanderspeigle”, an alien sent to Earth to wipe out the human race. However, when he crash-lands in Colorado, he ends up becoming the town’s doctor and begins questioning the merit (and morals) of his mission.
It’s garnered critical acclaim across its run: Season 1 has a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, while Season 2 has a perfect rating of 100%, making its average score 97%.
“A show I’ve thought was fantastic, but just not in the right places to get the exposure it deserves just hit Netflix, so y’all check out Resident Alien. It’s funny AF,” one user tweeted. “Resident Alien is on Netflix? F**k yeah! I’ve been wanting to watch this for a while,” another wrote.
“The lengths I had to go to when I wanted to watch Resident Alien and it wasn’t streaming anywhere and now it’s on Netflix. You lucky ducks, those of you just finding the show now,” a third posted. “Anybody else watching Resident Alien on Netflix, if you’re not… tune in this sh*t is hilarious,” a fourth wrote.
Season 3 recently premiered on Syfy too, so you can pivot there once you’ve binged the first two seasons on Netflix.
