Slow Horses Season 4: Release date, first trailer & what’s next for Jackson Lamb

The Slow Horses Season 4 release date is on the way! The show has dropped a new trailer, too, that features Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb being arrested, and teases the death of a major character.

Slow Horses has proven to be one of the very best TV shows on Apple TV. It’s highly popular and critically-acclaimed; this year, the spy thriller was even nominated for BAFTAs and a Golden Globe.

Based on the books by Mick Herron — and starring Gary Oldman, Kristen Scott Thomas, and Jack Lowden — the show revolves around a group of MI5 rejects sent to a building called Slough House, where they are nicknamed the Slow Horses.

Slow Horses Season 3 dropped at the end of 2023, while Season 5 is already in production. But here’s everything we know about Season 4, from release date and trailer, to cast and plot.

Slow Horses Season 4 release date

Slow Horses Season 4 premieres on Apple TV+ on September 4, 2024.

The first three seasons launched with two episodes on the same day, followed by the rest of the episodes dropping weekly. We expect a similar release pattern for Season 4.

Each previous season has also consisted of six episodes, so again expect Season 4 to do the same. Meaning the schedule should look something like this:

• September 4: Episode 1 & Episode 2
• September 11: Episode 3
• September 18: Episode 4
• September 25: Episode 5
• October 2: Episode 6

A Season 4 teaser dropped just after the Season 3 finale aired, featuring the Slough House agents investigating a series of explosions in London.

A full trailer launched on August 13, which gives us a better look at Hugo Weaving’s character, and shows Jackson Lamb being arrested by a new member of his team.

What’s the plot of Season 4?

Season 4 is based on the novel ‘Spook Street’ by Mick Heron, and sees the Slow Horses hunting for a terrorist group setting off bombs around London.

In the book, Jackson Lamb turns to his old work colleague David Cartwright for answers. In the trailer, we see that happening in a graveyard, where Cartwright speaks of a “monster,” who has created “an assassination squad.”

That monster appears to be Frank Harkness, who is played by The Matrix and Lord of the Rings star Hugo Weaving.
