HBO’s hit drama series Succession has ended its last-ever awards season by scoring a major win at the SAG Awards.

After a successful four years on television, HBO’s Succession came to an end in 2023 with its most popular season by far.

Since the show ended, the cast and crew have been making their rounds at the last award season run they’ll have under this title.

The run sadly came to an end last night during the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards, but the show managed to scoop up one last major award before the curtains fell forever.

Succession snags major cast win at the SAG Awards

Towards the end of the night, the cast of Breaking Bad (Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Dean Norris, and R.J. Mitte) awarded Succession with the SAG award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series.

Alan Ruck, who plays the eldest Roy child, Connor, stepped up to give a passionate speech on behalf of the cast and crew about the last honor the show would ever win.

“Well, one last hurrah. I think right now you’re looking at some of the luckiest people on the planet and some of the most grateful because not only did we get to all work on one of the best television shows, you know, maybe ever, we made friends for life,” Ruck said.

“And I think the magic of Succession was that the writing was so fabulous. It inspired all of us to bring our A-game from the very beginning. And we got off on watching each other work, and we caught lightning in a bottle. Lucky, you know? So, now we’re thrilled to be recognized by our peers.”

Ruck then acknowledged the absence of Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, and Sarah Snook at the ceremony before thanking the show’s creator, stating, “And mostly, thanks to Jesse Armstrong for having this idea. You know, and then for hiring the most glorious writers room, and they just kept delivering the gold, so you honor us and we honor them. Thank you.”

During the 2024 awards season, Succession took home multiple awards as a cast, but the standouts were undoubtedly Snook, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew Macfadyen, who each won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critic’s Choice Award.
