Taron Egerton gives promising update on Kingsman 3 release
20th Century FoxKingsman star Taron Egerton is getting ready to play Eggsy once more, teasing when we can expect Kingsman 3 to arrive.
The Kingsman franchise has been on a strange path since its debut in 2015. Its first sequel, The Golden Circle, was extremely divisive and its prequel The King’s Man faired slightly better with fans.
Franchise lead Taron Egerton is set to play Eggsy one last time and has explained when we can expect the final Kingsman film.
Kingsman 3 is coming sooner than you think
During an interview on the Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham, Taron Egerton explained that the next Kingsman film is due to enter production soon: “My understanding is that we are to be shooting the third instalment in my saga I believe next year.”
Egerton warned fans to be cautious because as “you know, don’t listen to what I say because I don’t really know. You know, they’re grown-up decisions.”
However, Kingsman franchise director Matthew Vaughn was able to offer up a more concrete idea of when to expect Eggsy and Gallahad’s next adventure.
The filmmaker previously told Digital Spy and The Wrap during promotion for The King’s Man that “we’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship. The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told.”
“There was a time, too, when the plan was to shoot two Kingsman movies back-to-back. The King’s Man and a proper sequel to the first two Kingsman films. We would like to shoot [Kingsman 3] late summer, sort of August, September, next year,” added Vaughn.
Audiences last saw Taron Egerton in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which also set up the potential for another spin-off based around U.S counterpart, the Stateman.
With Kingsman 3 on the way, a reunion with the American spies could well be on the cards.
