Among Taylor Sheridan’s ever-growing roster of TV projects is Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone – following its success, the series is set to make a “bold” move to CBS.

Though he’s known as the creator of Yellowstone, Sheridan has numerous projects under his belt. Currently, he’s juggling multiple Yellowstone spinoffs, as well as his continued work on The Mayor of Kingstown, Landman, and Special Ops: Lioness, to name a few.

He’s also working on Season 2 of the hit crime drama series Tulsa King, starring Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mafia boss who is released from prison after 25 years, only to discover his life has drastically changed.

Though the series’ original home is Paramount Plus, it’s set to follow in the footsteps of Yellowstone with a new CBS deal.

Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King makes “bold” move to CBS

In summer 2024, ahead of Season 2’s release this fall, Tulsa King Season 1 will make its broadcast debut on CBS in a move that’s been described as “bold” – but fans don’t quite agree with this description.

The news arrives after Paramount’s deal with CBS amid the now-resolved writers’ and actors’ strikes, which caused delays to Yellowstone’s final chapter and a gap in the broadcaster’s schedule.

The solution was a deal to start airing Sheridan’s neo-Western series from the beginning on CBS, which has been a resounding success so far, with Season 1 earning an average of 4.69 million viewers per episode.

According to Paramount Plus, Tulsa King’s first chapter – which debuted in November 2022 – continues to be its most-watched series of all time, ranking second only behind Sheridan’s 1923.

So, it’s no surprise the series will be heading over to CBS, where it’ll no doubt unlock thousands of new viewers across the US. As per the streaming platform: “This is the most recent example of Paramount Global’s strategy to bring Paramount+ originals to new audiences on its linear platforms.”

Let it be known that Season 2 will still be airing exclusively on Paramount Plus. There’s no news on whether it will come to CBS at a later date, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted if and when it does.

Until then, Sheridan fans have been discussing the news on Reddit, where an article was shared describing the deal as “bold” – although some don’t agree with this analysis. One pointed out the Yellowstone/CBS deal, to which another replied, “Exactly… not bold if it’s already had a proven track record.”
