This new movie was tagged as a reawakening back to horror classics like Scream. Here’s everything you need to know.
Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving is on Netflix now
Eli Roth’s 2023 bloody slasher movie, Thanksgiving, is on Netflix now.
There’s nothing better to wind down with than blood and guts with a slasher horror after the Valentine’s festivities. Roth saw success and praise among horror fans with Thanksgiving, a long-awaited movie based on the director’s mock trailer for his 2007 movie Grindhouse.
Per our review, Thanksgiving was a delicious feast of blood, murder, and guts. It brought back the nostalgia of the original Scream with an added spice of Halloween. For the first time in a long time, the teen characters weren’t as blind or lost in trying to survive a killer.
Thanksgiving takes place in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and is scarred by a horrid Black Friday event that took place a year prior. It led to chaos, pointing fingers, and a few gruesome murders. A year later, the people involved in the incident are being hunted by an ax-wielding killer. To make matters creepier and give the killer an iconic look, he’s dressed as John Carver.
It’s a classic who’d done it scenario as many will look for clues to help them unmask the killer. Is it someone from the friend group? Someone they had no idea was involved in the incident? Or someone they never suspected?
Thanksgiving’s arrival on Netflix will likely cause a resurgence among fans for a sequel. Roth has already confirmed he will return for Thanksgiving 2 and will hopefully answer one big question from the ending.
