Where is The Gentlemen filmed? All filming locations
NetflixNetflix’s The Gentlemen series explores the opulent, secretly seedy criminal underworld of the UK – but where exactly is it filmed? Here’s all the filming locations you should know.
While Guy Ritchie’s movies can be breathtaking, globe-trotting adventures, like The Man from UNCLE and Operation Fortune, his earlier (and better) work is firmly rooted in the grit of England; more specifically, London and the south of the country.
2019’s The Gentlemen was a return to form and Ritchie’s home comforts, but its setting extended to the lavish, countryside estates of dukes and lords – a key part of Mickey Pearson’s marijuana empire.
His Netflix spinoff of the movie has just dropped, following a whole other royal(ish) family as they fall into the orbit of another drug kingpin. It features some incredible mansions and other filming locations you may be curious about – so here’s what you need to know.
The Gentlemen Netflix filming locations
The Gentlemen TV series was filmed across England in the following locations:
- Badminton House, Gloucestershire
- Stoke Park
- Loseley Park, Guildford
- Knebworth House, Stevenage
- Sherbourne Castle, Dorset
- Magazine London, Greenwich, London
- Canary Wharf, London
Badminton House served as the main setting for Halstead Manor, currently owned and lived in by the Duke of Beaufort. “That’s what is so good about it as a location – it’s an actual lived-in home,” the show’s supervising location manager Iggy Ellis told House & Garden.
Daniel Ings, who plays Freddy, ended up incurring the wrath of the resident Duke when he “f**king stacked it” on the grass – which he was supposed to be staying off of.
“Actually he got told off by the duke whose house we shot it at. We were under strict instruction to stay off the grass. He left skid marks, I mean that skid cost us about £10,000,” Ritchie recalled, as per the Eastern Daily Press.
Loseley Park was used for some scenes, such as the outside of Vinnie Jones’ character’s cottage and other interior shots, while other sets were built at Stoke Park.
“I’ve done all sorts of contemporary or period shows and what I loved about working on The Gentlemen was that it was a bit of everything. It was contemporary east London – boxing gyms and gritty streets and urban – and it was high-end London like Canary Wharf and more glitzy locations and then it was really lovely stately homes. I think that’s what the unique character of the show is – you’ve got a bit of everything, for everybody,” Ellis added.
