Production on The Last of Us Season 2 has only just begun, but according to Pedro Pascal, things are already going well for the continuation of the beloved series.

Adapting a widely-beloved game is no small feat, but it’s one that HBO managed to achieve very well with The Last of Us. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the series gave the zombie genre a much-needed spark, making fans cower and cry in equal measure.

At the 2024 SAG Awards, Pascal won the award for Male Actor in a Drama Series, cementing the character of Joel as a part of his acting legacy once and for all.

Ever since the show came and went in 2023, fans have been gunning for The Last of Us Season 2 to arrive. After his win, Pascal had an exciting update to share about the production of the follow-up season, and it’s sure to get everyone even more impatient.

Speaking to Deadline backstage at the SAG Awards, Pedro Pascal gave an update on the filming of The Last of Us Season 2, saying it’s going “amazing”.

“It’s sort of awe-inspiring the kind of focus and dedication that everyone has going into Season 2,” he added.

“It’s incredible to be back home with them and creatively and everybody, our entire crew, they’re working harder than I could even imagine, even harder than our first season which is close to impossible. It’s pretty inspiring and unbelievable and this is because of them.”

Filming for the second season of the drama series began earlier this month. The first series was one of the most anticipated shows of 2023, and with each episode drawing in an average of almost 32 million viewers, the second season is bound to elicit the same hype.

Fans have already been treated to a number of exciting updates, including the casting of Abby and an unexpected star joining the production, but this just might be the most promising news yet.

Although there’s still a ways to go until The Last of Us returns to screens, there’s likely plenty more clues coming our way as to what we can expect. (And if it’s anything like the first, it’ll be a first-class apocalyptic ride!)
