The Ones Who Live has introduced a few new faces to The Walking Dead universe already, with one being a key figure in Episode 2. Here’s everything you need to know about Nat.

While Episode 1 of The Ones Who Live focused on Rick and his ongoing troubles with the CRM, Episode 2 turned to Michonne. She’s been on the road for a long time, searching for her husband. Of course, she’s not alone, and along the way she’s found a few friends, including the opinionated and clever Nat.

In the newest episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Nat forms a large section of Michonne’s ongoing story. From evading the CRM to searching for clues about Rick’s status, Nat is there to support Michonne in the latter half of her quest.

With Nat also comes an emotional turn in the latest action-packed Walking Dead show, so here’s everything you need to know about Michonne’s newest ally. Warning: major spoilers ahead!

Who is Nat in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live?

Nat (played by Matthew Jeffers) is a fellow survivor who travels with Michonne while she goes out on her search for Rick.

He appears in Episode 2, first meeting Michonne when she brings back Bailey and Aiden, two survivors who she stopped to help in Season 10 of The Walking Dead’s original series.

Nat travels with a community of survivors, acting as their weapons creator and inventor. He has expansive knowledge of machinery and mechanics, creating his own weapons that cause explosions to lure walkers away.

Instantly, Nat respects Michonne. Thanks to her help in getting Bailey and Aiden back to their group, he does what he can to get Michonne the things she needs (weapons, a horse) to continue her journey to Bridgers Terminal, where she thinks Rick could be. Eventually, Nat and some others from their community leave the group to follow Michonne.

As Nat tells Michonne, his childhood wasn’t easy. After his father left, abandoning him and his mother, Nat resorted to causing trouble. With a destructive personality, Nat was on the wrong path until his mother got a new boyfriend, who clearly wanted to help.

Setting about opportunities for Nat to create instead of destroy, his new father figure nurtured Nat’s ability to be inventive and solve problems. As such, his worst habit became his greatest skill.

What happens to Nat in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 2?

After losing his friends in an attack by the CRM, Nat travels with Michonne as she heads home, but eventually gets killed by a CRM soldier.

After a chemical bomb attack kills everyone but Michonne and Nat, the two set off together to Bridgers Terminal. When Michonne breaks down upon realizing that she might never find Rick, Nat comforts her. He tells her that he’ll stick with her as she returns home to her children. However, on the way back, they encounter a CRM helicopter.

They shoot it down and go about attacking the soldiers. However, Michonne finds that one of them is Rick, and Nat is able to witness their reunion. But one of the soldiers isn’t actually dead, and shoots Nat, who collapses and dies in Michonne’s arms.

While their time together was short, it seems that Nat and Michonne did grow close. Michonne was impressed by Nat’s ingenuity, and Nat admired Michonne’s dedication to Rick. When Episode 2 ends, Michonne has Nat’s lighter, and it’s implied that he might have inspired her to destroy the CRM for good.
