Timothée Chalamet has one condition for superhero role amid DCU speculation
Warner Bros.Dune star Timothée Chalamet has outlined his one condition for joining a superhero film amid rumors of potential DC casting.
It’s safe to say that Timothée Chalamet has amassed quite the resume in Hollywood since his break-out role in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name.
The actor has since then led several big franchise films including Wonka, the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory prequel, and Dune, whose sequel is set to premiere in theaters soon.
As Chalamet is one of the most in-demand actors working today, it’s no surprise that rumors of his potential superhero casting have run rampant and now the actor has outlined the one specific demand he has before he could ever join a super-powered franchise.
Chalamet’s demand hints at potential DC casting
While doing press for the highly anticipated Dune: Part Two, Chalamet explained the one way he would ever join a superhero movie to The New York Times, which completely went against the advice of one of his biggest Hollywood mentors.
“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good,” Chalamet said, “I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”
“When I was 12 years old, after attending one of my sister Pauline’s [ballet] performances, I petitioned my Mom and grandma to see Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight with me. We went to AMC Empire 25 in Times Square for a 7:30 screening. I left that theater a changed man, and I’m serious about that. Heath Ledger‘s performance in that film was visceral and viral to me, and I now had the acting bug.”
It’s a bit ironic that Chalamet would cite Nolan’s most acclaimed Batman films as one of the films that convinced him that being in a superhero movie would be worth his time seeing as he’s being eyed for a role in an upcoming Batman film.
As part of Peter Safran and James Gunn’s new vision of the DCEU, the upcoming Batman film The Brave and the Bold is set to introduce a new generation to the Bat family.
And, seeing as Chalamet is the perfect age to play Dick Grayson aka Nightwing (who once acted as Batman’s Robin), it wouldn’t be that much of a leap for DC’s co-CEOs to tap the Dune star for the role of a lifetime.
