Venom 3 is currently in production as Sony looks to quickly follow up on Madame Web, and some on-set photos have seemingly confirmed a major link to the mainline Spider-Man Marvel movies.

Sony is looking for a win after Madame Web came into theaters in February and left audiences and critics wanting so much more from the superhero movie. The next comic book adaptation in its slate, Kraven The Hunter, is scheduled to come out in August.

The slate of films that Sony has managed to hit on with its Spider-Man adjacent origin movies were Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The Tom Hardy-led anti-hero movies have been panned by critics, but have mostly charmed audiences.

The studio plans on releasing the third movie in the Venom franchise in November 2024 and has started slowly marketing the film. In a newly released on-set photo, fans have confirmed a major link between Sony’s universe and the mainline Spider-Man Marvel movies.

Set photos from Venom 3

Set photos released by Spider-Man News on Twitter/X showcase Tom Hardy in an outfit that Spider-Man and Marvel movie fans might recognize.

A Hawaiian shirt-clad Hardy suggests the actor was filming scenes connected with the last movie that fans saw him in, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Venom, as human Eddy Brock, was being tutored about the mainline Avengers in a diner before he teleports back to the Sony Spider-Man Universe in a post-credit scene.

Venom learns about the existence of Spider-Man in the MCU and says that he should go talk to him before zapping back over to Sony.

The specifics around the tie-in have yet to be revealed, but it might confirm that Sony is still trying to get a crossover movie with Marvel with at least Venom if its other spin-offs don’t cut it.
