What’s The Vince Staples show about?
A somewhat famous, rich, and kinda criminal rapper navigates the various challenges and levels of his life in his hometown in California.
The Vince Staples Show’s logline reads, “In the limited comedic series, Vince Staples navigates life as a kind of famous, kind of rich, kind of criminal (but not really) rapper. He’s constantly thrust into adventures while also figuring out how to appease his mother, girlfriend, and all those haters from his past who want a piece of him.”
The series takes viewers through five satircal tales. All inspired by Staples’s real life as an artist, writer, and director. Staples told Netflix the conept and storylines for the series come from “life.”
“Usually people pick, ‘this is a comedy or this is a drama’ [or] ‘this is serious, you can’t make it a joke.’ We lived in-between those moments, because that’s what life is. Sometimes things aren’t supposed to be funny but end up being hilarious. I just wanted to make sure I was showing the light sides of darkness and the dark sides of lightness,” Staples told Netflix Tudum.
Alongside Staples, the series stars Andrea Ellsworth as Deja, and Bell Calloway. Other cast members include Naté Jones, Arturo Castro, Scott MacArthur, Bryan Greenberg, and Myles Bullockas.
The official trailer for the series shows Vincent in the various conundrums of his life. Everything from being a part of a bank robbery to illegal drugs, trying to get bailed out of jail, and his relationship. You can also spot rapper Rick Ross with a lemon pepper wing.
