Viral Kang Dynasty “leak” is just a Rick & Morty episode according to fans

The shock announcement of Avengers: Doomsday means the MCU is seemingly done with Kang the Conqueror, but the alleged script for The Kang Dynasty has now leaked onto the Internet.

After a series of domestic abuse convictions, Marvel Studios fired Jonathan Majors and began to pivot away from its Kang the Conqueror storyline. Kang, whom Majors is rumored to have a contractual clause stating only he can play, was a central point of the next Avengers film, The Kang Dynasty.

Marvel has now opted to go for a Doctor Doom-centric story, Avengers: Doomsday, which ties nicely into the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps and 2026’s Avengers film, Secret Wars.

But fans are wondering what could have been with the Kang Dynasty arc. In a series of now viral posts on X (formerly known as Twitter), user ExiledScoop3r claims to have gotten ahold of the script and is revealing alleged details, though not everyone is convinced.

Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is seemingly done for good in the MCU.

According to the ExiledScoop3r, Kang Dynasty would have served as a prequel to Quantumania, focusing on that version of Kang in particular. The ruler of a highly-advanced society, his wife and his unborn son would be killed by an invasion of the Council of Kangs.

Kang would go on a quest to conquer other universes before his variants could destroy them, leading to his exile in the Quantum Realm. The film would have revealed that after Quantumania, Kang was stranded in an area called The Beyond Zone, where he was forced to fight an army of clones of himself.

The plot is being wildly circulated on Reddit and X. However, fans believe it’s likely fake. They’ve pointed out that this plot, which ExiledScoop3r cites no source for other than crediting original Kang Dynasty writers Michael Waldron and Jeff Loveness, is ripped wholesale from Rick and Morty.

As one user on Reddit explained, “Rick & Morty has roughly one episode a season focused on the Citadel of Ricks that tells a story throughout the series; its rise and fall and prime Rick’s beef with them.”

“His backstory follows roughly what Kang does in the above story. R&M borrowed the council of ricks from Fantastic 4, but this plot is what they did with it.”

No specifics for the Kang Dynasty script have been released to date by Marvel Studios. The last update before its cancellation was in November 2023, when it was revealed that Waldron would be the head writer, replacing Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness.

It was around the time of Waldron’s hiring that rumors first appeared saying the MCU would shift focus away from Kang. Loveness’ removal was reportedly because he was so intrinsically linked to the Kang arc and Ant-Man & The Wasp in Quantumania, which underperformed at the box office.

With Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU to play Doctor Doom, it certainly seems as if Kang the Conqueror is gone for good. Though we may eventually learn what the plot of The Kang Dynasty is, it does seem unlikely that it would be such a direct copy of a Rick and Morty storyline.
