Virgin River fans “hooked” on this forgotten comedy
Amazon Prime VideoVirgin River Season 6 might not be out until at least 2025 – but in the meantime, fans have got “hooked” on this forgotten comedy show.
Bringing together light-hearted laughs and serious life problems is something that Virgin River does exceptionally well – so it’s no surprise that fans want more of the same while they wait for Season 6 to air.
In the Netflix show, characters such as Mel, Hope, and Charmaine frequently cross the divide between comedic and dramatic scenes – with a little help from furry friends such as Pony the dog along the way.
While new installments of Virgin River are currently at a standstill, some fans have turned to a forgotten comedy series that they’ve now found themselves “hooked” on.
Virgin River fans “hooked” on forgotten comedy
Virgin River fans are currently “hooked” on forgotten comedy series Loudermilk, which debuted back in 2017.
Starring Ron Livingstone, Anja Savcic, and Laura Mennell, the series follows “Sam Loudermilk, a drinking and substance-abuse counselor, is notoriously ill-tempered. A recovering alcoholic himself, he manages to offend everyone he meets.”
The show’s three seasons aired between 2017-2020, crossing over to Amazon Prime Video for its final leg. While the two might not seem too similar on the surface, both Loudermilk and Virgin River share the themes of new beginnings, troubled pasts, and unexpected humor.
For fans of the Netflix hit, the laughs aren’t the only thing appealing about turning to the forgotten comedy.
“Anyone else also watch Loudermilk?” one posted on Reddit. “The neighbor, I totally thought was the actress who plays Charmaine, but is a different actress. They look so similar though. (Laura Mennell and Lauren Hammersley).”
“Omg I’m watching it right now! Totally hooked!” added another, with a third user agreeing “I just finished it. I really liked it.”
While other users claim to have “binged” all three seasons in a matter of days, others cite familiar shows – including Virgin River alumni – as particularly good jumping-off points after watching Loudermilk.
“I just watched This is Us and Alexandra Breckinridge is a guest star. It was great seeing her in that series. She plays a nurse,” one Redditor weighed in. Other users chimed in “Yes! We just finished it and we really liked it! Can’t wait for season 4!”
Currently there is no official plan in place for Loudermilk Season 4, although its creators are hopeful. The show has a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, with Seasons 1-3 now available to stream on Netflix.
