Following on from The Netflix Cup, the streaming giant hosted its second live sports event over the weekend: The Netflix Slam. Here’s everything you need to know about who won the tennis match.

Netflix continues to build its reach in various avenues, focusing on expanding its influence in international content, gaming, and live sports. Earlier this year, the streaming juggernaut reached a significant agreement to broadcast WWE Raw from 2025.

A few months prior, it hosted its first-ever live sports event in the form of The Netflix Cup, which paired up F1 drivers and golfers from its respective documentaries, Drive to Survive and Full Swing.

Following the debut live tournament, The Netflix Slam aired on Sunday, March 3, which saw World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz facing off with 22-time Grand Slam men’s singles title winner Rafael Nadal. But who came out on top?

Who won The Netflix slam?

Following a tense tie-breaking set, Carlos Alcaraz won The Netflix Slam, beating Rafael Nadal with a score of 14-12.

The special one-night tennis exhibition match was hosted by MGM Resorts International, taking place inside Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas.

Breaking down the scores, Netflix said: “Nadal won the opening set of the exhibition match 6-3, while Alcaraz won the second set 6-4. The last set of the match was a nail-biting 10-point tiebreak, during which Nadal first tied the score at 9-9 with one of his signature (AKA, seemingly impossible) volleys.

“However, determining a winner wouldn’t be that easy. Both Nadal and Alcaraz played some of their best tennis, bringing the score to 13-12 Alcaraz ahead of what would be the final match point: Alcaraz won 14-12 in the final round, making him the winner of The Netflix Slam.”

Following his victory, Alcaraz had nothing but praise for his opponent, stating that he admires his “fighting spirit.” The player added: “He never gives up on any ball, he runs to every corner of the court, hitting amazing shots.

“I had a few match points before I got it. He made an unbelievable shot. He never gives up. I try to keep that for my game. That mentality he has… finding solutions when things aren’t going well every time… it’s admirable from him. I try to keep it. I think everybody in life should try to keep it as well.”
