Yellowstone fans discover Season 5 filming date for final episodes
ParamountThere’s an end in sight to the wait for Yellowstone’s final episodes, as fans have uncovered a filming date for Season 5 Part 2.
It’s been a long and complicated road to the final chapter of Yellowstone. Since Season 5 Part 1 aired in November 2022, there have been talks of off-screen drama, lead star Kevin Costner distancing himself from the show, Hollywood strikes, and Taylor Sheridan’s decision to finish with the fifth chapter.
All of this has led to a significant wait for the second half of Season 5 – it’s been more than a year since the midseason finale, and the Yellowstone crew has yet to start filming.
However, there is an end in sight, as revealed by an eagle-eyed fan who spotted a listing online.

A Yellowstone fan pointed to a listing on Film & Television Industry Alliance, which states that Season 5 Part 2 will start filming on April 8, 2024.
The listing was posted after a Redditor asked, “Any news on when they’ll be filming the last half of season 5?” Another user shared the link, adding, “This says April 8, 2024,” to which the OP replied, “You’re the best, thanks!”
Others commented on the delays, including this person who said, “For some reason I keep thinking it’s 2023 still and seeing 2024 makes me feel like it’s forever away.”
The shooting date is in line with the release window for the final episodes: November 2024. Following this, the Yellowstone world will continue through its various spinoffs, including 1923, 6666, and a currently untitled Matthew McConaughey-starring sequel.
The news that Sheridan’s flagship series will end with Season 5 arrived last May, alongside a report suggesting the McConaughey spinoff will arrive on Paramount Network in December 2024 – although this release window could very well change.
Chris McCarthy, president & CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement at the time: “Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits – from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I am confident our sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life.”
