Yellowstone fans slam “WTF scenes” with Rip, Kayce & more
Paramount Television StudiosYou only have to look at the immense success of Yellowstone to see how talented Taylor Sheridan is as a writer. However, fans are digging a little deeper and have found a few moments in the show that just don’t sit right.
Throughout the course of Yellowstone, viewers have been treated to some truly incredible scenes, plot twists, and character development. It’s a show that offers up endless entertainment, but is it perfect? Well, no, not quite.
Even among the very best Yellowstone episodes, you’re likely to find something to pick fault with. And that’s exactly what some fans have been doing over on Reddit lately, as they discuss the most inexplicable and jarring moments from the Taylor Sheridan TV show.
Yellowstone has a strange idea of romance
The original post highlights one of the most bizarre moments in all of Yellowstone, when Rip Wheeler digs up his mother’s grave and takes her wedding ring off her green, rotting hand. It’s a grim scene to say the least, but it also doesn’t make any sense.
Rip’s father was highly abusive, leading to his mother divorcing him. This begs the question, why was she still wearing the ring in the first place? Even ignoring this plot hole, why Rip would think this ring is the perfect symbol of love to offer up to Beth Dutton is all the more confusing.
Kayce Dutton is a wild card
It’s not just Rip who’s guilty of these weird acts, though. The post flags the fact that Kayce Dutton, the golden child of the Dutton family tree, also does some pretty strange things throughout the course of Yellowstone.
The poster wrote: “The random scene at the beginning of S4 where Kayce is chasing thieves into Canada, and then the Canadian says it might be the Wild West in Montana but the rule of law applies in Canada, and then Kayce just calls all Canadians sheep. Like wtf???
“First of all that’s pretty rude (full disclosure I am a Canadian), and [it’s] out of character for Kayce. Secondly wtf did the Canadians/Mounties do? I genuinely think this scene only existed so Taylor Sheridan could insult Canadians.”
Yellowstone is supposed to be crazy
The post then goes on to pick out some similarly “wacky” moments from the show, but it has to be said, it’s these rather radical scenes that make Yellowstone the amazing TV show it is.
Be it Summer Higgins feeling incredibly unwelcome at the Dutton ranch and fighting Beth, or Kayce locking a man under a cattle grate, or Rip killing Roarke by throwing a rattlesnake at his face; this is all part of the charm of this highly theatrical cowboy soap opera.
