Who is Laramie in Yellowstone?
ParamountLaramie can be found hanging out with the bunkhouse boys in Yellowstone quite a bit, so here’s everything you need to know about the character and the actress who plays her.
Beyond the Duttons and their ranch hands, the Yellowstone Ranch also houses a few stragglers every now and again. From passing friends to temporary workers, there’s never a dull day. Some of these guests cause trouble, while others simply pass through.
Laramie is one such character who becomes very familiar as Yellowstone goes on. She manages to capture the attention of more than one ranch hand, and in doing so, ends up being the subject of some bunkhouse drama.
With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about Laramie and how she fits in at the Dutton Ranch.
Laramie in Yellowstone explained
Laramie is a barrel racer who befriends the Yellowstone ranch hands, and ends up staying with them in the bunkhouse.
She’s best friends with Mia, Jimmy’s girlfriend. The two ladies are barrel racers at the rodeo, and are referred to as “buckle bunnies”. She first appears in Season 3, and continues to be a secondary character throughout until Season 5. Laramie and Mia stay on the ranch extensively, and can be seen contributing and working alongside the cowboys.
When Mia starts dating Jimmy, her and Laramie begin spending a lot of time at the Dutton Ranch. Laramie initially takes a liking to Lloyd, but quickly develops feelings for Walker. After switching cowboys, Lloyd and Walker develop an antagonistic relationship. It all ends horribly, with Lloyd stabbing Walker in the shoulder after he and Laramie flirt in front of him.
The incident causes a major rift in the running of the ranch, and John Dutton ends up demanding that the bunkhouse not allow any women inside anymore. This rule is eventually revoked when Rip asks John to keep their female ranch hand, Teeter, in the crew.
Who plays Laramie on Yellowstone?
Laramie is played by Hassie Harrison on Yellowstone.
A Dallas-born native, Harrison has appeared on Yellowstone as well as Hart of Dixie, Tacoma FD, and The Iron Orchard.
She and her on-screen Yellowstone boyfriend Ryan Bingham are dating in real life, too. In fact, in 2024, the couple got married with a huge, cowboy-themed wedding.
Speaking about her character, it’s clear that Laramie’s cowgirl ways are something Harrison can connect with.
“I would say that this is the first time in my career that I’ve had the opportunity to play someone so close to me, but also so different,” she told Backstage. “It’s been therapeutic to be cast in a role that allows me to reconnect to my Texas roots and the cowboy culture I grew up around.”
