Now that a huge link to The Big Bang Theory has been announced, some Young Sheldon fans think it confirmed a key rumor for the Season 7 finale.

Now that Young Sheldon Season 7 has a few episodes under its belt, the rumor mill is rife with theories dedicated to the rest of the series – especially the finale.

So far, a few key details have been confirmed by creators, including addressing George Cooper Snr.’s death, the return of Tam, and the physical inclusion of adult Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons.

Ahead of Sheldon squared in the Season 7 finale, some Young Sheldon fans think the news confirms a huge ongoing theory.

Adult Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy Cooper (Mayim Bialik) are now confirmed to appear in the Young Sheldon Season 7 finale – with some fans suggesting this confirms a theory that the entire prequel takes place in Sheldon’s head.

Over the course of Young Sheldon’s run – which started in 2017 – a handful of fans have been convinced that the only reason the prequel exists is because it’s a way for Sheldon to share his memories with his family. If this is the case, a lot of plot vices would be explained, such as adult Sheldon’s voiceover and the inconsistencies with his memories.

“Guess the theory that this show is adult Sheldon telling a story to his kids or writing a memoir is pretty much confirmed with their return announcement,” one fan mused on Reddit.

Another agreed: “With the voiceovers every episode that had always been my assumption. Will be nice to see them though. I just hope they do this in a way that doesn’t overshadow the actors on the actual show Young Sheldon. The finale should still be focused on them.”

Though the announcement of Parsons’ return in particular has made a huge splash this week, that doesn’t mean it’s been a surprise for Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory fans.

“No shock there. Still, that’s super exciting. Hopefully they show their kids,” a third chimed in, with a fourth stating, “I’m excited but really wish they had kept this a secret.”

It’s currently unknown how Sheldon and Amy will feature in the Young Sheldon Season 7 finale, with details yet to be revealed by the show’s creators.
