Young Sheldon fans spot huge clue for key Season 7 death
CBSYoung Sheldon Season 7 has got off to a strong start without giving too much away. However, some fans think they’ve spotted a huge clue for one key death.
It’s not been an easy time for the Cooper family as they head into Young Sheldon Season 7, with a recent tornado flipping their lives upside down and Sheldon’s big move to Germany.
Even so, the drama isn’t expected to stop unfolding any time soon, thanks to the impending death of a key character that fans already know is on the horizon.
Only in the last week has it been confirmed that the death will be addressed in the series, with some fans now thinking they’ve spotted a huge clue in the Young Sheldon Season 7 promotion.
Young Sheldon fans spot huge clue for key Season 7 death
Over on Reddit, Young Sheldon fans are convinced that they’ve spotted a huge clue about George Cooper Sr.’s death in the promotional material for Season 7.
“I mean besides Sheldon approaching the age where he said his dad died, look at this cover for Season 7. It might just be me, but I literally see a bright X marked on George’s face,” one Redditor pointed out about the initial poster for Season 7 — and sure enough, they’re right.
For fans of both the prequel and the main series The Big Bang Theory, George’s death isn’t going to come as a surprise. In TBBT, Sheldon mentions that his dad died when he was 14, which is exactly the age he now is in Young Sheldon Season 7.
With fan speculation rife over how the death was going to be handled — if at all — it’s only been in the last week that George’s death has properly been confirmed by creators as a storyline.
Speaking to TV Line, executive producer Steve Holland stated: “I don’t want to say what you will or won’t see, but things will get addressed. We are not beholden to every joke that was ever made on The Big Bang Theory, but we do feel beholden to the larger canon and the larger events that shape Sheldon’s life. We want to honor those.”
However, other fans don’t agree with the theory that the promotional posters gave this away before it was announced.
“I haven’t seen such an obsession with a character’s impending death since Glenn on TWD,” a second fan posted on Reddit, with a third weighing in “I hope he doesn’t die during the season. Let it remain an unknown part of the TBBT/YS legend. Every discrepancy between the two shows doesn’t have to be wrapped up with a tight little bow.”
Young Sheldon Season 7 continues with Episode 2 on February 22.
