Young Sheldon Season 7 lays groundwork for tragic character arc
CBSThe final season of Young Sheldon has a lot of character arcs to finish out, and one particular storyline hints towards an unhappy future for a certain Cooper.
With Young Sheldon soon coming to an end in Season 7, fans are trying to absorb every Big Bang Theory Easter egg they can. From returning characters to unexpected real-life connections, they never seem to end.
Season 7 has already started the long process of wrapping up the comedy series, and the gap between Young Sheldon and… well, older Sheldon, is closing even more.
But the same can be said for other characters, too. In fact, one in particular is currently going through a storyline that lays the foundations for a very notable (and sad) trait down the line.
Young Sheldon Season 7 hints at Missy’s doomed romantic life
In Young Sheldon Season 7 Episode 3, Missy has a new (boy)friend named Taylor, who she lies about to her parents, marking the first step in a life-long trend of complicated and unhappy relationships.
Missy also appears down the timeline in The Big Bang Theory. Social and rebellious (unlike her twin brother), the rest of the gang attempt to make moves on her. When she returns to the original show, it’s revealed that she’s unhappily married.
Even further on, she’s pregnant with her second child and going through the process of separation from her husband.
This can all be tied to Missy’s boyfriend arc in Young Sheldon Season 7. When her father George asks her if her new friend Taylor is a boy or a girl, she tells him the truth, but makes-up the fact that Taylor is gay so she can keep seeing him.
Later, it’s revealed that the two are in fact seeing each other, since they’re seen kissing on the couch. All this doesn’t bode well for Missy and her approach to relationships – lying and scheming aren’t a good look, after all.
However, it all works out in the end. In Season 4 Episode 11 of the prequel series, Sheldon’s voice-over reveals that Missy did go on to have a happy family life. So while it might have been a bumpy road, she got there in the end.
