Young Sheldon fans “can’t wait” for sequel – but there’s a catch
CBSThe Sheldon-verse continues to expand as CBS greenlights a Young Sheldon sequel – but that doesn’t mean everything is as it seems.
Young Sheldon Season 7 isn’t even over yet and fans are already beside themselves with what to do next. However, the answer has already been made clear thanks to CBS greenlighting a brand-new prequel-sequel.
As confusing as that sounds, it’s more of a spinoff of its own, with Sheldon‘s perspective and storyline taking a back seat going forward.
While many fans “can’t wait” to see what’s to come, there is a slight catch in the Sheldon-verse road that lies ahead.
Young Sheldon sequel confirmed – but there’s a catch
CBS has greenlit a Young Sheldon sequel that focuses on Georgie and Mandy’s family life – but that doesn’t mean fans will get answers for what happened between the prequel and The Big Bang Theory.
When we meet adult Georgie in the main series, he’s a single man who seems to have left wholesome family life way behind him. However, Young Sheldon Season 7 is already showing him to put his best foot forward to provide for his child and partner.
Unless something drastic happens before the Season 7 finale, Georgie and Mandy’s Young Sheldon sequel might not offer up any answers as to why the pair split – purely because it hasn’t happened at that point in time.
While the series is now confirmed, there are no official details on plot or timeline, meaning the sequel could take place directly after Season 7 or years after. However, judging by the real-life ages of the cast, it’s likely to be set sooner rather than later.
Regardless of what’s to come, the Young Sheldom (that’s ‘Sheldon-fandom’) is well and truly hyped for its arrival.
“LETS GOOOOOO GEORGIE FANS W,” one fan posted on X/Twitter, with another adding: “I enjoyed Young Sheldon and can’t wait to see this.”
A third mused: “They really making a universe outta the Big Bang,” while a fourth summed up: “FINALLY A MANDY AND GEORGIE SHOW.”
In a statement, via Deadline, president of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach added “It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy. Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”
Young Sheldon Season 7 continues on CBS until May 16, 2024.
