Young Sheldon fans say The Big Bang Theory does one thing better
CBSEven though fans say they prefer the prequel to the main series, some think The Big Bang Theory did do one thing better than Young Sheldon.
As one of the most popular and watched shows in the US, it’s safe to say that prequel series Young Sheldon has won a lot of people over.
Following Sheldon Cooper’s childhood from the ages of nine to 14, current outing Season 7 is set to wrap up his early years by bridging the gap between his teenage and adult storylines.
While plenty have decided that The Big Bang Theory isn’t for them, some do agree that the main series does one thing better than the main show.
Young Sheldon fans say The Big Bang Theory does this thing better
According to Reddit, plenty of Young Sheldon fans think main series The Big Bang Theory had a much better theme song than the prequel series.
Released as a track in 2009, The Big Bang Theory’s theme song was performed by Barenaked Ladies, although the theme was specially changed for the final-ever episode.
In contrast, the Young Sheldon theme was recorded by Steve Burns, titled ‘Mighty Little Man.’ According to another Reddit thread, the song was actually released in 2003 and was repurposed in 2017 as the show’s theme.
After an overwhelming vote, the fan verdict is in – The Big Bang Theory theme wins overwhelmingly over Young Sheldon.
“Honestly I don’t think it fits the Sheldon character at all, TBBT theme is so much better and at least fits the science bill, I feel like the YS theme would be better for a show about a young athlete. Doesn’t suit the show at all…. it’s so out of place,” one Redditor mused about the Young Sheldon tune.
Another fan agreed “Plus it’s Christian rock (or just sounds like it), which is not Sheldon themed either,” while a third weighed in “Absolutely fricken hate and loathe it, with a passion. I just finished TBBT and just started YS and I’m literally debating to continue because of the absolutely awful song/intro.”
Young Sheldon Season 7 Episode 2 airs on CBS on February 22, 2024.
