Young Sheldon: What happened to Veronica?
CBSYoung Sheldon Season 6 just made its Netflix debut and Season 7 is on the way – but there’s no mention of Veronica, which begs the question: what happened to the character? Here’s what we know.
With The Big Bang Theory prequel due to come to an end in February, many Young Sheldon fans have found themselves reminiscing on what plot holes – and minor characters – there have been over the past six seasons.
On top of this, viewers have also been unpacking what potential plotlines we could see in Season 7, with the death of George Cooper Sr. being a hot point of contention.
However, some fans have been left wondering what happened to Veronica in earlier seasons of Young Sheldon, so here’s everything you need to know.
What happened to Veronica in Young Sheldon?
After appearing on and off since her debut in Season 2 Episode 6, Veronica was promptly fizzled out of Young Sheldon – with Reddit users now weighing in on why.
Veronica joins the show as a resident ‘bad girl’ and one of the students Sheldon tutors, before asking Mary for her to be saved by Jesus. In later episodes, she goes on to be a short-lived love interest for Georgie.
“Does anyone remember Veronica?” one Reddit user asked. “The last time we saw her was when she looked at Georgie’s candy necklace and I really shipped them 🙁 . Mandy and Georgie is cute but I really liked Veronica and she kind of showed Georgie’s soft side.”
“In situations like these, I always wonder if it’s a simple matter of the actress being unavailable. It’s possible that Mandy was invented for a storyline originally meant for Veronica,” another user mused. “Once Georgie and Sheldon were no longer in high school (and Missy wasn’t there yet), there was no longer a need for side characters from the high school (except for those who interact with George),” a third agreed.
The same can be said of neighbor Brenda’s daughter Bobbi, who quickly disappeared after initially being brought in to bully Sheldon.
“There aren’t a whole lot of Tam appearances as well if I remember correctly. Quite a few of those side characters fizzled out,” a fourth user weighed in.
“She got a lead role in a show called 1883 and then carried on as narrator for 1923. She chose the lead role over the recurring role,” another user pointed out.
Actress Isabel May can indeed be seen in both Yellowstone spin-offs, alongside portraying Marge in new Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air.
