Asmongold explains why Pokimane will be ‘better off’ on YouTube than Twitch
Unsplash/TwitchStreaming icon Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has finally left Twitch after many years and Asmongold believes she will be better off now that she’s on YouTube.
On January 30, Pokimane announced that she would be leaving Twitch behind and a day later, confirmed that she was switching to YouTube.
Pokimane later explained her decision on her podcast, revealing that in addition to Twitch not resigning her to an exclusive contract, she had grown tired of the site’s “messy behavior” such as the controversial artistic nudity policy and ban process.
The move shocked fans, but for fellow streamer Asmongold, her decision to leave the purple platform was the right one given the type of content she creates.
Asmongold says Pokimane will do “much better” on YouTube
During a broadcast, Asmongold started discussing Pokimane’s move to YouTube and explained why he feels moving away from Twitch was the right call.
“I think it’s a better idea for her to go to YouTube. It seems like she wants to become a much more mainstream content creator and not focus primarily on gaming,” he began. “She’s done multiple collaborations over the past two years expanding her influence outside the gaming space.
The big kicker, according to Asmongold, is that Twitch is so male dominated, it’s hard for female streamers to develop an audience that is also female, but that’s not the case with YouTube.
“On YouTube there is a massive, vibrant, huge, drama-filled f**king community of, for example, beauty community. I thought WoW was bad, I thought Twitch was bad, holy sh*t!” he exclaimed.

The MMO streamer then began recalling how his ex and her friends all watched a 50-minute video of a woman trash-talking another woman that did 100 million views.
“Pokimane will do much better on YouTube than she will on Twitch. She’s not making content for a majority male audience in the same way that for a lot of girls on Twitch, you have to look a certain way, you have to portray yourself in a way that guys like, and you don’t have to do that as much on YouTube,” he added.
While YouTube may be Pokimane’s new home, it’s not the only place that she could end up streaming. Anys hinted that she could even take her talents to TikTok and Instagram as well.
Kick, on the other hand, is just about the only place she won’t stream as the platform is funded by gambling websites and doesn’t want her viewers to be “funneled into an addiction.”
