Twitch streamer Justketh left viewers worried for her well-being after she was confronted by Chinese police for filming in Tiananmen Square.

Justketh is no stranger to IRL stream shenanigans. The Thai broadcaster has been traveling the world for quite some time now, and has had her share of scary run-ins with strangers across the globe.

On June 12, however, the Twitch star found herself in unfamiliar territory when she visited Bejing, China, and was checking out Tiananmen Square.

Tiananmen Square is the site of a brutal 1989 massacre where the People’s Liberation Army, the armed wing of the Chinese Communist Party, shut down student protests calling for more human rights.

Discussion of the massacre has been greatly censored in China and heavily filtered online, so when Justketh approached the historic site, she was immediately confronted by police.

As she reached a sign and started to read it, an officer came up to her with a phone translation asking if she was livestreaming.

“Oh God, chat. We’re going to jail,” the terrified streamer remarked.

Despite trying to get away, the officer demanded Justketh provide him with her personal information, and she quickly turned the stream off to deal with the situation privately.

When she returned, the streamer explained that she needed permission to broadcast in the area and had to share a bunch of details with the cops before she was allowed to leave.

In addition to telling the police the platform she was streaming on and her channel name, Justketh also noted that she was forced to hand them her passport and said they took a photo of it.

According to Keth, she still wasn’t allowed to stream even after signing a form, but she was able to leave in peace, escaping from what could have been a very awkward situation.

This isn’t the first time a creator has faced legal trouble for streaming in Asia. Back in May, IShowSpeed was stopped by the military when he tried to stream at the North Korean border while he was on a trip to South Korea.
