Valorant players are demanding more severe punishment for trolls as the current penalty system isn’t “enough” to combat toxic teammates.

Just like the majority of games out there, the Valorant community has its fair share of trolls and toxic players. While typically muting and reporting a player will suffice, the devs have faced a never-ending battle in combatting the problem.

Thankfully, when it comes to Valorant, there are systems in place ensuring players are disciplined fairly. However, some feel as if the game’s current punishments aren’t “enough.”

Valorant players call for more severe punishments

In a Reddit thread posted on January 28, one Valorant fan hit out with their frustrations. Explaining that they’re tired of players ruining their games, they called for harsher penalties to combat the problem.

“There needs to be a way to punish people who throw games. It isn’t enough,” the player wrote. “I’m tired of knowing that within the first 3 rounds of a ranked game that someone on our team thinks it’s funny to sit in spawn, run with knife out into the enemy team, deliberately lose a 1v1 situation, and completely ruin the entire game.

“The report system doesn’t do enough in my opinion,” they hit out. “It should be a permanent ban of the account after the game is reviewed by Riot.”

The player further explained that these experiences in-game make them never want to play ever again, claiming they “can’t take it anymore.”

It appears that many are feeling the same way, explaining they’re also being driven away from Valorant due to the influx of trolls in their recent sessions.

“This is why I just stopped playing this act. The amount of trolls after the ranked reset is crazy,” said one.

“Been happening a lot to me this season. I’ve had people play to make it seem like they’re playing but will purposely lose the round and friendly fire teammates,” wrote another.

Others suggested the Riot devs take a page out of Valve’s book, copying Counter-Strike by adding a “trust factor” to each player — which determines the quality of the lobby they’ll be placed in.

“They should consider a trust factor like CS, where if you get constant reports and they are verified, you get paired with other low factor players,” they suggested.

Previously, we’ve seen the devs be praised for fast action against abusive chat messages. Nevertheless, many feel harsher punishments are in order. But, we’ll just have to wait and see whether Riot acts on the demands.
