Valorant players baffled with “weird” Breeze rework that took away its uniqueness
Riot GamesValorant fans are claiming the recent Breeze rework in Episode 8 has taken away the map’s character and uniqueness.
Valorant launched with just four maps at release. Now there are a staggering 10 maps, although only seven are in the competitive rotation at once, which gives Riot the chance to go back and make a few changes to older maps.
The latest to see tweaks are Breeze and Lotus, where in Episode 8 the Riot devs made some significant changes.
However, the Valorant community is puzzled by the changes made on Breeze, claiming it’s taken away the map’s uniqueness.
Valorant players feel Breeze is no longer special after rework
In a Reddit thread on January 13, one Valorant player started a discussion, claiming the Breeze rework in Episode 8 makes it feel like that map has nothing special to it.
“Breeze rework took all the character from the map,” they wrote. “I know Breeze is a controversial map where people didn’t like the long-range engagements, however practically removing halls and cave it feels like the map has nothing special at all.”
It appears others from the community agree too. In the replies to the post, some shared they prefer the old version of the map before its rework. “Breeze is just weird. I prefer the old version so much more,” said one.
“I agree, it used to be my favorite map because long-range gun fights are rare in Valorant, now I’m tempted to dodge every time I see it in comp,” OP replied.
Not only that, one explained that it’s the same case with other maps that have been reworked in the past, claiming Riot has also taken away their identity. “Literally almost every map update just takes away the uniqueness of the maps,” they said.
There’s no doubt we’ll see further changes to Breeze and the other maps down the line. Although, hopefully, the Riot devs will take this feedback into account moving forward.
