Aku'mai in BFD in Season of Discovery

After 20 years of development, World of Warcraft is a uniquely complex game under the hood. As such, unintended consequences are rife and Season of Discovery is now an exception, as one player found out while trying to earn a key piece of BFD gear.

The latest seasonal MMO offering from Blizzard changed a lot about Vanilla Warcraft. One of the centerpiece content additions came in the form of the Blackfathom Deeps 10-man raid adaptation.

This new challenge offered additional boss mechanics and general encounters, all scaled to match additional player power. From there, the developer also has provided a ton of new and exciting gear as an appropriate reward for the effort it takes to beat the raid.

Now, one player has found themselves unable to secure a particular BFD Trinket for a hilarious reason.

WoW player unable to get BFD Trinket after killing Argent Dawn NPC

In a post on Reddit, a player shared a story of how their curiosity got the better of them, leading to some unintended and genuinely annoying consequences.

Essentially the problem boils down to a happy trigger finger being used against the wrong NPC. After finding out that the Argent Dawn members in Darnassus can be attacked, this unfortunate player killed one.

As a result, Dawnwatcher Selgorm was pretty unhappy. This becomes a problem because Selgorm is the turn-in point for a BFD quest. This quest rewards players with a powerful trinket for killing the last boss of the raid.

The wider community began to share their own similar tales of woe. One said: “Reminds me of the druid who had negative Cenarion Circle rep and couldn’t do any of the quests to get his legendary weapon in Legion.”

Another added: “And that reminds me of trying to get alchemy recipes in Legion on my main with negative booty bay rep from Bloodsail title grind and painstakingly grinding it back.”

Unexpected situations like the one above are part of the fabric of WoW. It’s nice to see that Season of Discovery has done little to change that.
