IShowSpeed “quitting” football after disastrous mistake at Match for Hope charity game
YouTube streaming star IShowSpeed has claimed he’s ready to “quit” football for good after a massive blunder in the Match for Hope charity game.
IShowSpeed was one of many influencers taking part in the ‘Match For Hope’ charity football game in Qatar on February 23 — alongside several legends of the game such as Roberto Carlos, Eden Hazard, Kaká, and more.
Just like his appearances on the pitch at the 2022 and 2023 Sidemen Charity football matches, the 19-year-old caught viewers’ attention. This was not for his football skills, but rather for some outrageous reasons, such as slide tackling one of the “greatest players of all time” Kaká from behind.
The YouTuber also turned heads after missing an open goal, in which Eden Hazard set him up with an unmissable opportunity. And now, after being roasted by the internet for the mistake, Speed claims he’s done with football.
IShowSpeed says he’s “quitting” football after Match for Hope
The Match for Hope ended with a spectacular 7-5 scoreline, with Team Chunkz taking the win against Team Aboflah. But, despite winning, IShowSpeed stated he’s “quitting” football after a bit of a disastrous performance on the grass, ending the match with just a 0.3 rating.
“Sorry, y’all. Sorry, I apologize. I am sorry y’all. I am quitting football, alright?” he said. “I am quitting, that’s it. I think I am done with this football sh*t. I think I am done.”
Not only that, the YouTube star put out a post on Twitter/X, telling his fans he thinks it’s time for him to hang up his football boots, which at the time of writing has amassed 125k likes.
“I think it’s time for me to retire from football,” he wrote.
Nevertheless, the Match for Hope was a clear success, raising over $8.8 million USD, which will support Education Above All initiatives across several countries including Mali, Pakistan, Palestine, Rwanda, Sudan, and Tanzania.
